Hunter Catchment Management Authority

My role also involved designing the website branding, the website concept and design, multimedia interfaces and the design and creation of flash movies to go with ABC radio River Stories. The Hunter River Catchment Management Authority required a website that would allow visitors to explore the Hunter River, it's history, it's ecology and the people and industry who use it.

I developed a compelling concept that would allow visitors to actually explore the river itself, following its winding path across New South Wales from it's source in the Barrington Tops to the sea at Newcastle. Along the way stories can be read, videos watched and photo galleries explored.

Both the Indigenous and European viewpoints of the river were represented by using 2 map interfaces. I commissioned a local artist George Anderson to paint the region from an Indigenous perspective. By mapping this to the topographical version, the website was able to represent both cultures as well as the many stories of the Hunter river.
